[origin: EP1396295A1] The bending machine (1), for bending rod-shaped work pieces and especially pipes, has a bending unit (5) with bending tools (10,11) on both sides of a tool carrier (12). Each bending tool has a bending die (13,16) and at least one pressure piece, flanking the tool carrier and coupled to apply pressure across the line of the workpiece against each other. The pressure pieces can be sliding rails (15,18) on both sides of the tool carrier, to slide along the longitudinal line of the workpiece. The components are powered by a common motor.
