Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02103306A2] At least one infrared sensor or a one dimensional sensor array are aimed at a target. A movable mirror scans the target of interest to provide a thermal "image" of the target area. Processing electronics detect the hottest spot of the target as indicated by output signals to directly indicate or estimate a temperature. Preferably, output can be utilized to determine the core temperature of a patient by examination of a target such as the tympanic membrane which is interconnected to the hypothalamus.
