[origin: EP1398741A2] Printer, especially a journal or voucher printer has an interface via which it receives data to be printed. At least a part of the received data comprises a signature and at least the signature is sent back over the interface. The invention also relates to a corresponding filter module for use with a printer, with the filter connected to the printer input and having an exchangeable cryptographic unit, e.g. a chip card.
