Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03001141A1] The aim of the invention is to obtain an economical artillery munition having a long range and acquisition precision for universal use while preserving the outer ballistic coefficients. To this end, a load section (14) is placed between a standardized rear section (12) and a standardized tip section (13), whereby this load section connects the contours of both sections to one another and can be equipped with various types of warheads, particularly those optimized for use against hard targets. In order to fire the projectile in an aerodynamically stabilized ballistic path, the rear section (12) is equipped with overcalibrated stabilizing fins (17) that, when placed inside the gun tube, rest against the lateral surface of the rear section (12) and are covered by an annular wall (19) equipped with a slip-through driving band (21) for reducing spin inside the gun tube. Preferably immediately after passing the apogee of the ballistic trajectory, canard glider wings (23) swing out from the tip section (13) which enable, via a piloting device (25), a transition out of the descending path of the ballistic trajectory and into a flatter and thus further-reaching gliding path, out of which a steeper decent subsequently ensues in a navigation-controlled manner into a narrowly predetermined target area above which the load section (14) releases its payload.
