[origin: WO03001856A1] The invention relates to a ballast device for lamps, comprising an integrated cooling point, whose mercury vapour pressure can be regulated by the heating of said cooling point. According to the invention, the temperature of the cooling point or a temperature in the vicinity of the cooling point is measured by means of a temperature sensor (15) and the heating output of the coils is regulated in such a way that the temperature of the lamp remains within an optimal range.
