[origin: EP1400482A1] The cable winch has a drive unit (3) and a transmission arrangement (1) with spur wheel and two pinions engaging therewith as well as at least one brake device (4, 7). The drive unit is connected to one pinion and the brake device is connected to the other pinion. The brake device can be a disc brake or multi-plate brake. The drive unit can be a hydraulic motor or electric motor.
