Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10107311A1] The invention relates to a thread gripper (G) comprising a stationary first gripping element (G1), which supports a thread clamping surface (K1), and comprising a mobile second gripping element (G2), which supports a thread clamping surface (K2). The thread clamping surfaces (K1, K2) can be pressed against one another with an adjustable contact pressure in a gripping position that holds the thread (Y) between the thread clamping surfaces. The thread gripper also comprises a setting element (S), which can be actuated out of a non-operative position by at least executing an opening movement, which can be brought into contact with the second gripping element, and which, at a time of thread release, adjusts the thread clamping surfaces over a thread release position until the thread gripper (G) is in an open position. In the gripping position of the thread gripper, an idle travel is provided between the setting element (S) and the second gripping element (G2). In the direction of the opening movement, said idle travel essentially corresponds to the travel path of the setting element during the acceleration phase thereof from the non-operative position up to an at least essentially constant speed and/or constant acceleration.
