[origin: FR2825726A1] The invention concerns a method for treating paper, in particular a method for deacidifying and reinforcing paper, and for preventing acidfication of paper, and the applications of said method. The treatment method is characterised in that it comprises impregnation of the paper to be treated with a solution containing at least a compound comprising several amine functions and one or more alkoxysilyls or silanes in an organic solvent or a organic solvent/water mixture, and drying the paper. The invention is useful for preserving and restoring old documents of collections or archives, such as books, manuscripts, posters, plans, maps or the like, and for protecting documents against acidification.
