[origin: WO02097246A1] Two-stroke engine comprising a central piston (4) moveable in a central cylinder (3) as well as an annular piston (6) moveable in an annular cylinder (5), the annular cylinder (5) comprising at least an entrance (8) and the central cylinder (3) comprising an exit (12) for combustion gases. The annular cylinder (5) and the central cylinder (3) are in fluid connection with each other by means of a passage (11). The passage (11), at least during a part of the stroke of the central piston (4), is arranged to discharge above the central piston (4). The top side of the exit (12) connects to the upper dead centre on the central cylinder (3) more closely than the top side of the passage (11).
