[origin: EP1403530A2] A dual-action hydraulic cylinder has a piston (4) with a hollow piston rod (7) emerging through a cap (5, 6, 9) at each end. The hollow piston rod incorporates an enclosed gas spring (12) which acts on the rod and cylinder base (1). The gas spring (12) is located within a coaxial separation pipe (3) and fixed to the base (1).
