[origin: DE10128986A1] The crane includes a support load increasing device (24) which when the telescopic sections are extended clearly raises the support load of the main jib (22). This load increasing device is permanently connected to the main jib as part of the standard basic equipment of the crane whilst retaining the maximum number of telescopic extensions and the weight of the device is contained within the main jib weight without exceeding the maximum permissible weight of the main jib without reducing the number of extensions (2 - 5). To compensate for the weight of the support load increasing device the individual weight of the telescopic extensions are each reduced compared to a conventional design so that the ratio of head weight to foot weight of the fully extended main jib is at maximum 40 : 60. The weight reduction of the individual extensions can be achieved by reducing the wall thickness, particularly in the side walls.
