[origin: WO03002493A1] The invention relates to a method for producing methacrylic acid from isobutane, which is characterized by subjecting the isobutane to a partial catalytic dehydration in the gas phase and feeding the resulting gas mixture containing isobutene to an oxidation zone once the components different from isobutane and isobutene have been substantially removed from the gas mixture. The oxygen required for charging the oxidation zone is added together with nitrogen.
