[origin: WO02097248A1] The invention relates to an internal combustion engine for operating with an aggressive or corrosive gas containing aggressive, gaseous constituents. Said engine comprises an electrical ignition device, a sliding mechanism (K) for the transmission of force and, in the region of at least one cylinder (9), a combustion chamber (10) comprising channels (8a, 8b, 11k, 29, 30) for supplying gas to the combustion chamber and for transporting gas away from the combustion chamber. The combustible gas is supplied to the combustion chamber in a controlled manner and the exhaust gas produced after the compression and explosive combustion is transported away in a controlled manner. The channels are defined by respectively coated wall sections (11, 12) at least along an incoming path (8a, 8b) to the combustion chamber (10). The coating (B11, B12) is designed to resist against the operating temperature of the cylinder (9), the essentially corrosive gas constituents in the incoming combustible gas, and an alternating stress caused by thermal expansion.
