[origin: WO03004968A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the rectilinearity of guide rails (FS), according to which a guide rail (FS) is aligned in a substantially parallel relation to a reference axis (AA'), at least one light beam is emitted by a light source (LQ) along the reference axis (AA'), and the light beam is detected by a light detector (LD). The method is further characterized in that the light source (LQ) or the light detector (LD) is displaced on the guide rail and the deflection and torsion of the guide rail (FS) is detected as changes of the distance between the guide rail (FS) and the reference axis (AA').
