[origin: EP1405680A1] The bending machine (1) for rod-shaped workpieces, and especially pipes, has a frame (2) and a tool unit (4) with at least one bending tool (11,12) on a carrier arm (28) at the side away from the frame. The carrier arm is aligned in parallel with the longitudinal line (9) of the workpiece, between the frame and the tool unit. At least one tool drive motor (23-25) to operate a bending tool is at the tool unit, to rotate it around an axis (26) against the frame. A motor to rotate the tool unit is at the carrier arm.
