Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1405818A1] The winder (1), to wind and unwind a cable (14) at a winch (21) with an external cable guide unit (15), has a guide roller and a powered cable drum (22). A cable feed in front of the drum, operates with an accelerated or retarded action on the cable to apply a draw tension on the cable between it and the drum. The cable feed has at least two cable guide rollers positioned so that the incoming cable is led at right angles to the drum axis between them. The incoming cable passes around the initial roller by 270degrees, and passes around the second roller by 90degrees before moving to the drum.
