[origin: EP1407704A2] The device has a fan connected to a floor nozzle and suction hose via a dust chamber. The floor nozzle and the suction opening of the hose have flow connections via parallel air paths to the dust chamber and the suction opening of the suction hose can be closed by a closure device. The suction hose has a flow connection to an auxiliary vent via which the suction force on the floor nozzle can be adjusted with the suction opening closed. The vacuum cleaner has a fan connected to a floor nozzle and a suction hose (7) via a dust chamber. The floor nozzle and the suction opening of the suction hose have flow connections via parallel first and second air paths to the dust chamber and the suction opening of the suction hose can be closed by a closure device. The suction hose has a flow connection to an auxiliary vent (47) via which the suction force on the floor nozzle can be adjusted with the suction opening closed.
