[origin: EP1408178A1] Covering plate (1) for memorial stones comprises an outward-facing vertical surface with an inscription (2), and an inward-facing recess (7) with a horizontal base (7a) for a light or other mourning object. The recess is formed by an insert, especially in the form of a shell or a hollow body, which is held with a frame (6) in an opening (5) in the covering plate. Preferred Features: The insert is closed by a sliding window (8) or by a door provided with a window and a lock.
