[origin: WO0226335A1] The invention relates to, amongst others, a novel brake arrangement for roller skates and inline skates, characterised by a simple construction, a very effective action and a well-controllable braking force. Said arrangement in particular comprises a brake plate (10), arranged over the rollers (9) of the skate (1), which may be displaced between two terminal positions parallel to the running direction and is provided with brake blocks (11, 12, 13, 14) which extend forwards in the direction of travel in the shape of an arc, at fixed separations. According to the invention, said blocks may be pressed against the rollers (9) corresponding thereto and the brake arrangement is operated by means of a cable pull fixed to the rear end of the brake plate (10), which is optionally pulled or released by the skater by means of a grip piece, which may for example, be integrated in the left or right hand glove.
