[origin: WO02062542A1] The invention relates to a device arranged on an edge-banding machine for cutting the edge material (4) on workpieces passing through said machine. Said device is provided for a machine or a machine station on which the edge material (4) is applied to the plate-shaped workpieces (1) on the surface of the narrow side (3). The workpieces pass through the machine or machine station in the longitudinal direction of the surface (3) of the narrow side thereof to be coated, and separating cuts are continuously made in the edge material (4) applied thereto. At least one separating unit is provided with a tool which can be engaged with the edge material at the point of the cut. In order to be able to provide only one short mounting place in the direction of displacement of the workpieces and in order to be able to make universal incisions or cuts in the edge material, said separating unit consists of a fixed rotational blade (9). Said rotational blade (9) has a body (10) which can rotate or pivot about an axis which is perpendicular to the displacement plane of the workpieces (1), and at least one cutter (13) protruding radially in relation to said axis (12), the rotational speed thereof during a cut in the edge material (4) being adapted to the passage speed of the workpieces (1).
