[origin: GB2366602A] A geared coupling between a prime mover 2 e.g.a motor or driving machine and a driven machine 3 comprises an outer casing 10 driven by the prime mover, a driven shaft 12, epicyclic gear 11, 13, 14, a fixed planet carrier 25, and one or more scoop members 20 for collecting and distributing lubricating oil 15 to various parts of the coupling. Oil may be fed, via tubes 26, 27, to an outlet 19 which may allow the oil to be cooled, filtered, or its characteristics monitored. Various uni- or omni-directional scoop members are disclosed. In a further embodiment, drive from the casing to the driven shaft may be via two epicyclic gears (401, 402, Fig.4A). The geared coupling avoids the need to have separate spacer type flexible couplings between the prime mover and the geared coupling and between the geared coupling and the driven machine.
