[origin: EP1410858A1] Press (1) or punch comprises a press frame (2) having at least two press frame sections (3, 4) arranged a distance apart and between which a press plunger (5) is arranged for carrying out a pressing process, and a device for transferring workpieces between pressing regions (6). The device has a holding device (29, 30) for workpieces, preferably in the form of a gripping device, and at least one drive device (7, 8) for moving the holding device. The drive device has at least one magnetic linear drive. At least one of the drive devices is arranged at least in sections on the side (33) of one of the press frame sections facing away from the press plunger.
