[origin: GB2378192A] A panel 1 comprising a rigid base member 2 having first and second opposed surfaces 3, 5 with a step 4, 6 provided in each of the surfaces allows the panel to overlap with neighbouring panels to form a substantially uniform and planar base sheet. The step in the second surface has a recess 7 for receiving a V-shaped edge region of a first neighbouring panel, and an opposite edge region 8 of the base member being shaped to fit into the recess of a second neighbouring panel. One or more facing members 9 are secured to one of the first or second faces, where the facing member may overlie the step in the second surface. A method of cladding using multiple panels comprising the order in which they are secured to the wall to achieve the overlapping relationship is also included.
