[origin: WO0211221A2] The invention relates to the wetting of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell stacks. At least one wetting water feed (12) is supplied with a plurality of first openings (15) in the fuel cell stack, these openings connecting the wetting water feed (12) to a reactant feed (10, 11). A plurality of second openings (17) are provided in the reactant feed (10, 11) connected to the wetting water feed (12), these second openings connecting the reactant feed to reactant distribution chambers (4, 6) of the individual fuel cells (2). The wetting water enters the reactant feed (10, 11) through the first openings (15) and is fed into the corresponding reactant distribution chambers by the reactant.
