[origin: EP1413753A2] A multi-stage piston-driven vacuum pump has a housing (1) and two suction chambers (2, 4). Between the inlet side (16) and suction chambers, or between the suction chambers, there is a system of link pipes and valves by means of which the individual pump stages operate either in parallel or in series. The link pipes and valves are incorporated within the housing.
