Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03012278A1] The invention relates to a method for testing the operatibility of a fuel tank ventilation valve (20) disposed in a fuel tank, especially in a motor vehicle, which can be controlled by means of a control unit (21) and which is connected to a suction pipe (16). A pressure source (30) is provided for testing the impermability of the fuel tank system by means of overpressure and underpressure. The operatibility of the fuel tank ventilation valve is carried out by at least one operating variable (102) of the pressure source. In order to achieve a shorter diagnosis period and a diagnosis measurement which is as reliable as possible, the fuel tank ventilation valve is controlled in an open and closed manner and a determined pressure modification (100, 108) is carried out. The at least one operating variable (102) of the pressure source is detected and the detected operating variable is used to decide whether the fuel tank ventilation valve should be open or closed.
