[origin: EP1416166A1] The pneumatic cylinder, with a damping action on the movement into an end position, has a cylinder housing (1) which is closed at one end by a cylinder cover (2,3). A piston (5) has an axial movement within the cylinder, through the action of a pressure medium on at least one side, with a piston rod (6) passing through at least one cover in a sealed passage. The damper has a bush (12) sliding coaxially at the piston which, in the start position, projects from an end side surface (13) of the piston and which can be retracted on overcoming a reaction force in the piston. The far end of the bush closes a corresponding ring shaped exhaust air opening as the main flow cross section in the cylinder cover. At the end movement section (X), only a parallel exhaust air opening remains as a residual flow cross section.
