Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1416458A1] The apparatus has an optical appliance with a laser light source generating a succession of input signals and a sensor for signals reflected by a vehicle (10). An arithmetical unit (22) determines the vehicles spot speed between two successive spots corresponding to the transmission of the signals taking into account the apparatus position at each spot, and the distance between the appliance and vehicle at each spot. An Independent claim is also included for a procedure to determine a vehicles speed through a vehicle speed monitoring apparatus.
