Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03014346A2] The invention relates to a method for screening a collection of nuclear acid molecules for a desired characteristic of the nucleic acid or a coded (poly)peptide thereby. Said method comprises the following steps: (a) automatic selection of a collection of cells which contain the collection of nucleic acid molecules by means of a first robot; (b) automatic lysis of the cells by a second robot; (c) automatic separation of the cell DNA from the cell debris by the second robot; (d) optionally automatic separation of endotoxins from the DNA by the second robot if the cells are bacteria; (e) automatic transfection of cells with the DNA obtained in step (c) or in step (d) if the cells are bacteria by means of a third robot; and (f) automatic screening for the desired characteristic by means of a fourth robot. The invention also relates to methods for improving the binding properties of the (poly)peptide which is identified in the inventive screening method or coded by the identified or isolated DNA, in addition to a method for the production of a medicament based on (poly) peptides obtained according to said inventive method and further relates to the formulation of the substance thus obtained with a pharmaceutically compatible support or dilutant.
