Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1420073A2] Cellular metal foam having closed cell walls is produced by introducing gas bubbles of suitable size and at a suitable rate below the surface of an otherwise non-stirred or non-agitated molten metal bath. For example, aluminum-silicon alloy, including silicon carbide foam stabilization particles has been thus processed into cellular metal of, as low as, one to two percent relative density and with good cell walls and quite regular cell size.
