[origin: EP1422354A1] The closure (1) for a shaft into a drain or sewage channel, with a filter to suppress odor from escaping gases, has a base body (2) with a tubular insert (3) and a cover (4). The body has a base (7), an outer wall (5) and an inner wall (8), with a gap between the walls forming a ring zone. The insert carries a filter (27) at its upper end to absorb gas odors, and its lower end sits on the base, between the inner and outer walls forming an outer (17) and an inner (18) ring chamber for the passage of water. The cover prevents the entry of dirt with a trap, with a center section (32) over the filter and outer passage openings (26) into the outer ring chamber.
