[origin: WO03020374A1] The weight training device has a load arm (22), mounted on a frame (10), which may pivot up and down relative to a horizontal position, on which a weight (24) is mounted such as to be adjustable in the longitudinal direction. The device further has a force application element (18), on which pushing or pulling forces of a training person (14) may be exerted and transmission members (16, 20), which transmit said forces as a torque to the load arm (22). The novelty of the invention lies in the fact that the load arm (22) is directly or indirectly supported in the horizontal position or inclined at an angle of up to about 20 DEG by means of a stop member (28). In the supported position the weight (24) may be easily displaced by means of an automatically locking electric motor or a manual drive with a gear.
