[origin: WO2004007201A1] The invention relates to a digital printing machine for sheet printing comprising: a digital printing unit that is format-free in a peripheral direction; an intermediate cylinder (2), which is connected downstream from the digital printing unit and which is at least partially covered by an elastic material, and; comprising a counter-pressure cylinder (4), which is connected downstream from said intermediate cylinder. The counter-pressure cylinder has grippers that hold sheets, and the periphery of this cylinder is provided with recesses for accommodating the grippers.
