[origin: WO03020664A1] The invention relates to a sealing ring made of a deformable material and having a radially inward-pointing inner sealing surface, and a radially outward-pointing outer sealing surface. According to the invention, the sealing ring further comprises at least one pressure surface that faces, as a wall of a cavity inside the sealing ring, at least one of the sealing surfaces in a substantial radial orientation so that a fluid pressing against the pressure surface in the cavity presses the at least one sealing surface outward under pressure. The invention also relates to a sealing system that comprises a first component with a bore, a second component arranged inside said bore, and the sealing ring for sealing a gap between the first and the second component against a fluid that is at least temporarily pressurized.
