[origin: WO03020236A2] The present invention relates to a natural extract from fungus, cyanobactria, plants, lichens or a mixture thereof having an ultra violet absorbency in the range of 220 nm to 425 nm wherein said extract is obtained by contacting said fungus, cyanobacteria, plant, lichen or a mixture thereof with an C1-7-alcoholic solution. The present invention further relates to a compound of formula I purified from fungus and to cosmetical compositions comprising a natural extract or a compound of formula I.
