The file (35) describes the wiring of automation functions in a markup language. Said file (35) is interpreted by a programme (36) of the installation server computer (31), said programme (36) subsequently generating instructions for the components (33) and (34) which are transmitted over the network (32). Said instructions are used to implement the wiring specified by the file (35) in the components (33) and (34). Furthermore, it is possible to modify the file (35) on the client computer (38) to modify the wiring.
