Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03023593A1] The present invention concerns a method, a program product and a hand-held device for managing separate collections of information and/or functions with said device. In the invention, user actions with the input device are logically tied to motions on the display. Said collections are preferably organized to a linear stack, the collection order remaining the same all the time. When a user moves, e.g. his/her finger horizontally (along x-axis) on the touch pad, the collection on the display is changed from one to another depending on the direction of the user finger movement. Correspondingly, when a user moves his/her finger vertically (along y-axis) on the touch pad, the collection on the display is scrolled vertically down/up depending on the direction of the user finger movement. While moving within one collection, the operating mode is changed to second operating mode when one collection and/or function is selected.
