Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03023592A2] The invention relates to a desktop manager program that allows extension of the graphical user interface (3) of conventional screens and PCs by the free positioning of the displayed section of the user interface by way of a 3D input device (1, 1') in such a manner that the user can thereby determine himself the visible part of a user interface (3) of a screen (6) and a PC (4). The selection of this visible part, a kind of virtual window (2), can be made using an input device (1, 1') with at least three degrees of freedom. Two degrees of freedom are used to navigate a virtual window (2) on the user surface (3). Another degree of freedom is used for the adjustment of an enlargement/reduction ratio with respect to the objects on the user surface (3) within the virtual window (2). The virtual window can thus be defined only as a part of the entire display surface of the screen (6). If the user interface (3) is displayed on the display of the screen (6), the virtual window can be navigated across the user interface (3) by means of the input device as a kind of magnifying glass with an adjustable enlargement ratio.
