[origin: WO03027492A1] The invention relates to a fuel injection system, comprising at least one fuel distributor (11) and at least one fuel injection valve (1). Said fuel distributor (11) is designed as an independent component and presents several valve housings (16) having inner longitudinal openings (17), in which the fuel injection valves (1) can be introduced. Said valve housings (16) terminate with the ends (18) thereof, opposed to a fuel supply channel (13) of the fuel distributor (11), lying freely. At least one safety element (20) for the captive fastening of the corresponding fuel injection valve (1) is shaped at said ends (18) of the valve housings (16). Said fuel injection system is particularly suitable for use in mixture-compressing spark-ignition internal combustion engines.
