[origin: WO03027850A2] A method and system for the verification of software functions of a control unit, using a simulation model for the representation of the software functions and the control unit. According to the invention, the identical simulation model is used to automatically generate the software code for the software functions of a first experimental control unit and a second series control unit. Identical input variables for the software functions on both control devices are used and the output variables of both control units arising therefrom are detected in a synchronous manner i.e. simultaneously.The software functions can be verified by comparing the output variables of both control units.
