Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03018895A1] The invention concerns a method and a device for forming a double-loop, a single-loop or a square knot from a string (5) or the like for tying up gifts, for decorative loops, for shoe string knots or the like. The invention is characterised in that it comprises at least four rods (52, 53, 54, 55) extending globally parallel to one another, preferably horizontally, forming a parallelogram consisting of two lower rods (52, 53) and two upper rods (54, 55) and it comprises at least two gripping means (58, 59) adapted to be displaced along opposite directions such that a first loop (56) is obtained by winding the string (5) around three rods, two lower rods (52, 53) and one upper rod (55), a second loop (57) is obtained by winding the string (5) around three rods, the two lower rods (52, 53) and the remaining upper rod (54) and such that the loops (56, 57) are passed through each other to form a double-loop knot.
