Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2380219A] A door panel comprises metal external and internal sheets 10,11, insulated from each other by an insulating core 12. The internal sheet has a recess 21 to locate the barrel portion of a hinge 23, a side of the recess demonstrating an abutment portion 31. The internal sheet has a projecting nose (39, Fig 5) on an opposite edge of the panel, which projects towards the abutment portion of an adjacent panel. The recess 21 may comprise a lower portion 30 which extends in the direction of the external sheet before returning to form the abutment portion and internal sheet, doubling the thickness of the recess. The lower portion 30 preferably extends at an angle between 55 degrees to 42 degrees with respect to the inside face of the internal sheet, allowing a close fit at the joint when opening and closing, preventing entry of fingers. The joint between adjacent panels is preferably weather and air sealed, using an elastomeric sealant material 40.
