Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1431432A1] A spinning assembly converts staple slivers into spun thread. The assembly has a sliver feed aperture with an outlet to a stationary spindle having an inlet and thread discharge passage. The spinning action is effected in a vortex chamber with an air feed. The feed passage (1) esp. follows a meandering route defined by diversion edges (14, 15, 16) between which the slivers are unsupported. In the sliver (2) direction of travel (A) the last diversion edge (16) is eccentric with respect to the thread discharge passage (5) inlet (13).
