[origin: EP1431503A2] A system of double glazed louvre windows has the louvres fitted inside a fixed frame, with the inner and outer panes of each louvre separated by edging glass strips inserted between the panes. The edging strips are bonded to the panes and have the same thermal expansion coefficient as that of the panes. No separate frames are required for the louvres, other than metal edge frames to which are fitted the pivots and the louvre operating linkage. The side metal frame can also hold a desiccant connected to the inside of the panes via a ventilation duct. The closed position of the louvres includes a small ventilation gap between the louvres. For added draught proofing the adjacent edge of the louvres can be stepped.
