Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03028511A1] Supporting spring systems for mattresses or the like normally have slats (10) whose opposing ends are mounted on a frame by means of elastic mounting means (12). The prior art already enables a personalized adaptation of the mounting means (12), with regard to their spring properties, to the individual lying thereupon, however, this alone is not adequate for sick persons. The inventive supporting spring system is designed so that at least individual slats (10) can be individually raised and lowered in the areas of their mounting means (12) by means of fluid-actuatable lifting elements. This enables the supporting spring system to execute any type of movement that is then transferred by the mattress to the individual lying thereon. These movements of the mattress enable, in particular, a decubitus prophylaxis or therapy. In addition, these movements are also suited for stimulating patients with certain clinical characteristics, particularly patients whose mobility is limited and thus suffer from lack of stimulus. The inventive supporting spring system can also be used in pain therapy.
