[origin: WO03030314A2] The invention relates to a hybrid optical amplifier comprising a support (30) consisting of: at least one first light guide (32) which receives a light wave E with power Pe to be amplified from a first end (35) of the support; a second light guide (34) which receives a first pump wave L from a second end (33) of the support; a first multiplexer (36) which is connected to the first and second light guides and which can transmit waves E and L to a third light guide (37), said third light guide being connected to a third end (39) of the support; a fourth light guide (41) which is connected to (i) a pump wave filter element and (ii) a fifth end (43) of the support which can deliver a wave S with power Ps which is greater than power Pe; and a last light guide which is connected to the fourth end of the support and to the filter element. The inventive hybrid optical amplifier also comprises an amplifier fibre (31) comprising a first end which is connected to the third end of the support and a second end which is connected to the fourth end of the support.
