[origin: EP1433578A2] A wood planning machine has a rotting cutting cylinder held at a set spacing above a work table or set into the work table. The cutting cylinder has one set of short blades to plane a reference level and longer blades to cut profiles. Two sets of safety claws (3, 4) are fitted, each operating at a set plane corresponding to the two sets of cutting blades. The safety grip claws are angled to allow the work piece to slide into the cutting cylinder and to grip into the wood if the work piece is thrown back out of the cylinder.
