[origin: WO03033746A1] The invention relates to a method for the production of a hot strip for the production of non-grain oriented electric sheets, comprising the following steps: melting of a steel consisting of the following in a liquid phase, expressed in wt. % or weight ppm, C: < 100 ppm, Si: 0.1 4.5 %, Al: 0.001 2.0 %, Mn: <= 1.5 %, Sn: <= 0.15 %, Sb: <= 0.15 %, P: <= 0.08 %, the remainder being iron and unavoidable impurities; the molten steel is cast to form thin slabs or to form a cast strip; the thin slabs or cast strip is continuously hot rolled directly after the casting of said thin slabs or strip in order to form a hot strip. According to the invention, the steel is cast and hot rolled in such a way that carburization is substantially avoided and that the carbon content of the hot strip obtained after said hot rolling is less than 100 ppm.
