[origin: DE10149216A1] The tool has a drive shaft (12) and a mechanical striking unit (16) with impact tool (26) driven by a driver unit (32) carried on an intermediate shaft (30). The unit has a cam element (36) with a first cam track part acting in a first axial direction of the intermediate shaft, and a second cam track part acting in a second axial direction of the shaft. The impact tool is positioned above the drive shaft and is born on it via guide surfaces (64,66). The tool is connected to a sensor (48) via a spring element (68,70).
