[origin: WO03031306A2] The invention relates to a device for winding a material web comprising a winding body to which the start of the material web can be fixed, whereby the material web can be wound by rotationally driving the winding body. The winding body comprises two clamping elements that can be displaced in relation to one another, whereby a clamping gap is formed between both clamping elements inside of which the start of the web can be introduced and fixed. The shells are pressed against one another while clamping the start of the web. A guiding element, particularly a guiding plate, is provided on the device and enables the start of the material web to be guided to the clamping gap. The invention also relates to a method for preparing a material roll.
